It’s only appropriate that Joe’s Bar & Grill be considered a standout performer on Maui’s popular stage of upscale restaurants.
One would expect nothing less from business manager/namesake Joe Gannon and executive chef Bev Gannon. After all, his decades as a Hollywood producer, director and lighting designer of stage acts—combined with her show-stopping food—provide everything necessary for a standing-room-only, smash performance.
Consider the stage, for instance, as one element of the Gannon’s show. Set atop the renowned Wailea Tennis Club’s pro shop, Joe’s Bar & Grill commands a virtually unobstructed, 360-degree view of man-made landmarks such as Wimbledon-quality tennis courts and award-winning golf courses, as well as nature’s own lush foliage, Haleakala Volcano and vivid sunsets over blue Maui waters.
The set—an interior designed by the Gannon’s close friend, Hollywood’s top set and production designer Jerimy Railton—features props that range from mahogany-accented chairs and tables to a 43-foot, hand-crafted copper bar.
The star of the show at Joe’s Bar & Grill, however, is undoubtedly Bev Gannon’s culinary creations. Bev’s cooking style emphasizes uncomplicated flavors, abundant portions and homey presentations. For her, that translates into menus that feature island-fresh ingredients—from Kula corn to just-caught mahi mahi—all prepared with America’s eclectic culinary heritage in mind and served with a smile. |
